Corner Balancing

You’re probably asking yourself “Why do I need to corner balance my car?” I have added extra horsepower for acceleration, Wheels and Tires for traction, coilover suspension for better cornering/handling and upgraded rotor/pads for quick stopping power.

Your car will be driven aggressively in both auto cross and road racing. Now you want to fine tune your driving style whether it be a FWD, RWD or AWD car. “CORNER BALANCE” is the key to take you to the next level over your competition.

Corner balancing is a technique used to evenly distribute your vehicle’s weight across all 4 tires. The result will be increased handling, better weight distribution on and off the track. The car will handle evenly from left to right turns. As an added bonus, corner balancing can give longer tire life by providing even tread wear at all 4 corners.

An example for FWD, Honda and Acura FWD are 65/35 weight distribution in general and cause pushing (understeer) severely upon heavy braking. By shifting more weight to the back of the car, this will have less pushing and allow more control entering and exiting the turns. Same goes for a RWD car, like 240sx, RX7, Supra, Miata, and BMW’s. They can get tail happy upon heaving braking. Corner Balancing will reduce and give more control and confidence.

For AWD vehicles like the Subaru STI and Mitsubishi Evo, you can achieve both front and rear wheel control by simply shifting the weight distribution of the car to make it drive more like RWD handling. These techniques require skillful training and track experience to obtain the most potential out of your car.

We at “THE SHOP” can perform corner balancing for you at a reasonable cost here, either at our facility or track side service upon special request. We offer 2 types of corner balancing- Street corner balancing or Race corner balancing. Please note to corner balance, you will need a adjustable coilover suspension and the car ride height may not be even at all 4 wheels.
